A family spreads it’s footprints far and wide. It gathers across land and sea, its connection held together by its deep love that cannot be separated by distance. The people grow with each generation, it’s circles gather in distant places. It begins to include people that are met along the way and become family through connection. Started through mother and father (represented by the handprints - that symbolise our mother/father ancestors of our old people) our journey fills through old, present and new memories that bind us with love. We belong naturally to each other, not forced, but a force than is powerfully unbreakable.
The vibrant colours represent each persons vibration in the family. Bringing their own unique personalities into the tribe. Each person contributing to our time together their own pulse and position in our journey together. Time, place, age has no significance for the memory of the moment lives on when those gathered celebrate the connection of those they have met. For the essence of a person can never be forgotten if we chose to keep the memory alive. This piece was started when my wife had lost someone significant to her and I wanted to capture the radiance of her memory and the spirit of what family acquired along the way means. To show that the beauty and brightness will always remain in her mind.
Designed printed (front and back) onto medium weight canvas fabric. It is easily cared for with machine wash and holds shape and colour. The cosmetic/purse bag is 22x17x7.5cm in dimension.
